On September 29, Apple announced Creator Studio updates and released Final Cut Camera 2.4. The news covers graphics preparation, filming and editing, but hardware requirements differ across features.
Refined selections and focus controls
Pixelmator Pro on iPad gains Select and Mask for refining complex selection edges such as hair. Final Cut Pro and Motion on Mac can apply Cinematic effects to video captured natively on iPhone 18 Pro, with focus and depth-of-field adjustments during editing.
For a creator, these serve different stages: a clean mask helps with image composition, while focus controls serve video editing. Check the specific function in the app you need rather than drawing conclusions from the Creator Studio bundle name alone.
What changes in Final Cut Camera?
The free 2.4 update redesigns the interface and adds exposure-monitoring tools. Variable-aperture support depends on iPhone 18 Pro hardware: installing the app does not add that capability to an older camera. With iOS 27, professional video scopes also become available, including RGB Parade and a histogram.
